Last Friday night fire destroyed $50,000 worth of property belonging to the Long Island railroad company at Long Island City. The fire broke out in a mail car. Eight express cars, the car sheds and freight and express offices, and eight car loads of express and freight goods were destroyed. A building on the water front owned by ex-Mayor Gleason and valued at $2,000, was also burned.
