He Wants a Million Dollars Taken Off Jamaica's Assessment.
Martin V. Wood as chairman of the board of Supervisors, was on Tuesday served with a notice of appeal from the decision of the board in the matter of the state assessment put on the town of Jamaica. Supervisor Everitt served the notice of protest through his counsel, Henry A. Monfort.
When the board equalized the assessment in the county, Supervisor Everitt protested against the amount placed on the town of Jamaica, and wanted the valuation reduced $1,000,000. He claimed that in the equalization Jamaica was allotted that much more than her fair share.
