Bullet Through Her Ear.

New York, 1895

Burdge McLean, of Valley Stream, was presented with a flobert rifle recently by his grandmother. The youth tried the effect of his new toy upon the sparrows. The first shot that he fired lodged in the lobe of Mrs. Samuel Cozine's ear. The bullet took a downward course and cut a gash in the side of the woman's neck eight inches long. Mrs. Cozine was prostrated by the shock. The boy was not arrested.

Pretty Badly Used Up.

A team of horses ran away with Clark G. Smith in Patchogue on Friday. He was dragged along the ground for an eighth of a mile. His left leg was cut from knee to ankle, two fingers and the hand were broken, one ear was almost cut off, and his head and face bruised and cut.
