William C. Crowley, a mason residing at Clarenceville, committed a murderous assault upon his wife on Thursday afternoon. He had been on a spree. At noon he went to sleep, and about 3 o'clock, when awakened, was in an ugly mood. He commenced to quarrel with his wife's brother, John Wood. Mrs. Crowley interfered. Crowley seized a lather's hatchet and struck her over the head, inflicting a serious wound. Mrs. Crowley was taken to the Jamaica Emergency Hospital, where she was attend by Dr. G. K. Meynen. Crowley was arrested by Constable Swift and locked up in the Town Hall.
Crowley was held by Justice Hendrickson pending the result of the woman's injuries.
Bicyclist Grannis Badly Hurt.
Daniel Grannis, of Brooklyn, fell from his wheel on the Flushing road in Jamaica Saturday. and was severely injured but is improving. The man was riding along the road when he met an obstruction. He struck the ground with much force and was picked up unconscious. When carried to Pettitt's Hotel it was found that he was bleeding from his ears.
Sentence Suspended on Henry.
Michael Henry, the man who was arrested for shooting at a number of children who were gathering flowers in the yard of Miss Cornelia King, in Jamaica, on Saturday, pleaded guilty before Justice Hendrickson Monday morning and sentence was suspended.
