The people of Manorville are indignant because the Excise Commissioners granted a license to Gustave Brasch. The man has opened a saloon on one of the principal streets. The village is a prohibition one, and each year a large vote for a no-license candidate is cast. Brasch is not meeting with a pleasant reception by his neighbors. They boycott him and the village tradesmen refuse to sell him provisions.
