Masked Gunmen Strip Members of $1,000 in Valuables
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — Thinking it was a joke, twenty members of the Bristol Republican club responded to the wishes of three masked gunmen, who entered the club's headquarters late at night and robbed them of jewelry and cash amounting to approximately $1,000. They escaped before the police arrived.
Chief of Police Sackville of Bristol police station holds to his belief that the robbers were New York gunmen.
A member of the club, explaining the holdup, said: "The club members thought someone was playing a joke on them when a masked man entered the room. But when he insisted that they respond to 'hands up' and when he summoned two assistants, the club members became suspicious, but some of them still insist that it was a joke, although their valuables have not been returned."
Toting Gun His Big Mistake
So Says Youthful Slayer Given Life Term in Prison
BOSTON, Mass. — "All my trouble came from carrying a gun. I had no business having it," said Joseph Sammarco, 22-year-old slayer of Patrolman William G. Clancy, as he left for Charlestown prison to start serving a life sentence as penalty for the crime.
"There is nothing to this gun business. No one ever gained anything from carrying one. I can see how terribly wrong it was, now that it is too late."
Sammarco was sentenced by Judge John F. Brown of the Superior Court. He accepted the sentence passively.
