Eel Glide Dance Threatens Jazz; Oldest Teacher Begins 71st School Year

1919

Eel Glide Winning Many Followers of the Jazz

New York, Sept. 12 -- The Eel Glide is the latest fantastic step to appear in dancing circles here, and it is beginning to threaten the popular jazz which hitherto has had the largest following. The name of the newest dance is about the best description of it. The dancers glide along the floor with sliding steps in which the feet are never raised, either at the heel or toe. The dancers gyrate in sinuous turns and twists in time with the music, which is a combination of jazz and minor chords.
