"Bluebeard" Is Rushed to Prison; Mob Foiled
Wife Files $100,000 Suit Against the Confessed Player
LOS ANGELES, Cal., May 20. – Because of the numerous threats made against the life of James P. Watson, who recently pleaded guilty to the murder of Nina Lee Deloney, and is alleged to have confessed the murders of eight other women he had wed, the prisoner was taken secretly to San Quentin prison to serve the life sentence imposed on him here.
Mrs. Katherine Wombacher, who sued the sheriff to recover personal property which, she alleged, was taken from her by Watson and in turn taken by the sheriff, has filed another suit against Watson. She asks for $100,000 damages, alleging that Watson married her in a general scheme to defraud her and to secure money and property alleged to be now in his hands.
Mrs. Wombacher said she married Watson, as Walter Andrew, in Seattle, Nov. 8, 1919. She sued him as Watson, Andrew M. Lewis and C. N. Harvey.
