Forged Dr. Bates' Name

New York, 1895

George Carl, colored, of Hempstead, who is Dr. Bates' coachman, has been arrested for forging the doctor's name to a check for $25. Mrs. Silberg sold Carl $9 worth of clothes, accepted the check, and gave him $16 in change.
