Whipped and Skipped the Town

New York, 1895

In October last J. R. Haggerty married a daughter of Jacob Weyrich of Oyster Bay. The bride was nearly 16. The ceremony was with full consent of the girl's parents. It is alleged by the parents of the girl that she was neglected and she was kept away from her husband. He pleaded for his wife's return. On Monday in a fight between him and one of his brothers in-law, it resulted disastrously for Haggerty. He was arrested and fined $10. Haggerty has left Oyster Bay.
