Deer Park Hotel Destroyed

New York, 1895

The Deer Park Hotel was discovered to be on fire Friday morning. The flames burst out of the building at 2 o'clock.

The inmates had to fly for their lives. The place is without a fire department, and the flames soon consumed the building. Some of the furniture was gotten out. The loss is estimated at $2,500, and is covered by insurance.


Shoe and Leather Bank Robbed

Samuel E. Aymar, a book-keeper in the Shoe and Leather bank, has turned out a defaulter in the sum of $20,000. He was arrested Saturday night in Brooklyn, where he resided. Seeley, who robbed the bank of $350,000, was Aymar's brother-in-law. Aymar has been with the bank about 20 years.
