Didn't Want the Postoffice Kind

"I want to buy some steel pens, if I can find any to suit me," said the cautious customer. "By the way, have you got any of the kind that are furnished at the postoffice for the use of the public?"

"We have not," replied the stationer.

"Then give me half a dozen boxes assorted kinds," rejoined the customer carelessly, throwing a $5 greenback on the showcase. — Chicago Tribune.

Note: Back then, post office was spelled as one word.


It Was Very Sudden

She — Do you think the time will ever come when women will propose?
He — I don't see why it shouldn't. Suppose you proposed to me tonight, and I said yes, what?
